Energy system study is a multidisciplinary endeavor and the most innovative ideas are often sparked by interactions between energy experts and scientists and engineers from other fields, in my case, operations research, economics, and control theory. Moreover, I believe that the most profound contributions to the energy field may be catalyzed by fundamental methodological and theoretical advances.
Over the past three years, with my colleagues at ISyE, I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to initiate and organize the annual GT Workshop on Electric Energy Systems and Optimization, which brings together a focused group of researchers, engineers, practitioners, and policy makers to discuss the most recent advances and look ahead for the next steps.
