Subject develops the basic tools of macro and international economics: monetary and fiscal policy, growth theory and exchange rates. Discusses recent emerging market and financial crises, examining their causes, how best to address them, and how to prevent them from recurring in the future. Evaluates different strategies of economic development, including an understanding of growth and development and the role of debt and foreign aid.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/stellar.mit.edu\/courseguide\/course\/15\/sp15\/15.S66\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Opportunities in Developing Economies 15.027 (MBA)<\/a><\/h4>\n<p><em>Spring, 2015, 2017<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Investigates the role of the private sector in developing economies, highlighting how solving market failures can improve overall welfare. Covers constraints faced by firms in developing economies: contract enforcement, corruption, political risk, human rights, IP and infrastructure.
