Student Testimonial Samples
"Dr. Ranjan Pal has been an exceptional mentor. He combines technical guidance with the freedom to explore, offering detailed feedback that has sharpened my skills as both a researcher and a communicator. Despite his busy schedule, he consistently remains accessible to his students and offers steady support for both our academic growth and personal well-being." (Cynthia Zhang, EECS, MIT)
"Working with Ranjan has been a truly enriching experience. He has consistently provided clear guidance and thoughtful feedback, helping me grow as a researcher. His mentorship style strikes a perfect balance between offering strong support and giving students the freedom to take initiative, which has helped strengthen my confidence and ability to work independently. My time at CAMS with Ranjan has taught me to approach research with a more critical, analytical mindset, preparing me for my future academic and professional goals." (Lillian Bluestein, EECS, MIT)
Students at the University of Michigan
During my tenure as a research faculty member in EECS at the University of Michigan (Fall 2019 to Spring 2022), I officially led a (D)iversity, (E)quality, and (I)nclusion compliant research group of 15 graduate and undergraduate (UG) students, who I feel are smarter than me -:).
All of my students published research - with most of them currently pursuing graduate studies. They are placed and/or have received offers from leading graduate schools in the USA, the UK, and Asia that include Carnegie Mellon University (CS, ECE, Financial Math), Harvard University (CS), Yale University (CS), New York University (DS), UC Berkeley (EECS), the University of Michigan (EECS), Georgia Institute of Technology (CS, ECE), Columbia University (CS, Financial Math), Cornell University (CS, ECE), University of Pennsylvania (ECE), University of Southern California (CS, ECE), Northwestern University (ECE), Rutgers University (Financial Math), University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (CS, Financial Math), University of Massachusetts Amherst (CS), University of Pittsburgh (Financial Math) University of California San Diego (CS, ECE), Imperial College London (Financial Math), National University of Singapore (CS), and Nanyang Technological University (CS).
Students at the University of Southern California (CS and ECE)
During my postdoctoral days, I closely mentored two PhD students (in CS and ECE) at the University of Southern California (USC) with Prof. Leana Golubchik who are currently placed at Facebook (Meta) and Amazon post completion of their PhD. I also closely mentored a PhD student in CSE at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi with Prof. Vinay Ribeiro who is currently placed at TCS Research Labs (India) after his PhD.
